[A friend of mine forwarded some hair raising links poking fun at the etymology of my first name...]

Ericius \E*ri"ci*us\, n. [L., a hedgehog.]
The Vulgate rendering of the Hebrew word qip[=o]d, which in
the ``Authorized Version'' is translated bittern, and in the
Revised Version, porcupine.
I will make it [Babylon] a possession for the ericius
and pools of waters. --Is. xiv. 23
(Douay
version).

If that is not convincing, the mugshot of this hedgehog should settle the matter beyond dispute:

Passing Thoughts
Nice. :o) I think the etymology of my name is something like ewe/lamb, but I've never looked at it for myself. Btw, good puns in your opening line.

Yeah, I thought a few of my friend's links were well pointed. However, St. Antony's (Franciscan) allegory is quite bristling. I wholeheartedly reject his hedgehog/sinner equation! Who made him a saint anyways? ;)
The picture is not me at my sharpest. It's one of those embarrassing, bad-hairday pictures that will eventually find its place burried in an eternal hole of darkness along with the rest of my mom's naked baby pictures of me.
