do you water your toothbrush?

Is there any advantage to watering the toothpaste on your toothbrush before you brush your teeth? More than one person has asked me why I don't water mine. When I was little, I used to do it, partly because that's the way other people did it, and partly because it seemed to water down the flavor of toothpaste which I never cared for too much. But it also seemed that adding water tended make it harder to keep the toothpaste in my mouth, so I stopped watering my toothpaste.

Am I the only person who doesn't water their toothbrush?
Can anyone please show me where the toothpaste directions say, "Add water"?

Passing Thoughts

The sublime and the ridiculous--all in one day!

Your right. There is no place that says "Add water." It goes back to the fact that people do things one way just because the generation before did it that way. I think there is a funny story illustrating some tradition going back generations. I think it was about how a woman made a [ham], and her mother telling her the EXACT way to make it (i.e. cutting off both ends of the ham). When the youngest generation traced back the reasons for making a [ham] in a specific way all the way to the gradmother, the reason was [due to the physical constraints of her grandmother's oven. She had to cut off both ends in order for it to fit!].

Sermon on the Mount: i thought you would post the work you did on that. seems like a good way to spend a 'vacation' to me.
Teeth Cleaning Ritual: no one in my family ever watered down their toothpaste. i didn't even know it was done until almost 2 years ago when i was babysitting some kids that did it. even then i thought it was peculiar to that family.

I would say that watering one's toothbrush allows for more effective bubble/foam, and the texture just feels better. Also, regular watering and indirect sunlight help your teeth grow longer.
