is acting genuine a genuine act?

"I would never make it as an actor: I have a hard enough time being myself!" ;-)

Passing Thoughts

Are you saying that if we deliberately choose to obey Christ at a given moment, instead of doing what we actually want to do, we are being disingenuous?

I am saying that obedience to Christ is like acting, though in our case, putting on Christ as our covenant-costume is actually more genuine than the adamic disguise we wear by natural birth. We have a natural tendency to want to wear clothes that reflects our own glory. In that respect, the Christian life is a fashion design competition for finding the clothes that best reflects His glory. That's never a *natural* thing to do or easy. No one has to command us to put on our old clothes. Our genuine appearance is solely by the work of our makeup artist; the perfections of our performance are His (1 Cor 15:10).
