Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Greetings in the name of our blessed Savior, Jesus Christ! Please note the following information:

            Wednesday, April 13th:

-         The Wednesday evening prayer meeting will meet this evening at 7:00 at the Johnsons’ house. For more information, or if you have any particular prayer requests, please give me a call (321-5220 or 321-6151). NOTE: The prayer meeting will meet at the Doerfels’ house on April 20th and 27th. For directions, please contact Bill or Marilyn Doerfel at 364-0830.

          Saturday, April 16th:

-         The Women’s Bible Study will meet at the Johnsons’ house this Saturday morning. Please contact Marilyn Doerfel (364-0830) or Robyn Johnson (321-6151) for more information.

-         The session will meet at the church at 1:00 p.m. Please call me if you have any matters to bring before the session.

This coming Lord’s Day, April 17th:

-         The adult Sunday School class will study chapter 6 of “A Call to Spiritual Reformation – Priorities from Paul and His Prayers”. We will take a close look at the content of Paul’s prayer in Colossians 1:9-14.

-         During the morning service, I will preach from Mark 15:40-16:8.

-         The evening service begins at 6:00 p.m. I will give a devotional message on Psalm 131.

Pastor Johnson’s family on vacation, April 18th – May 1st:

-         We will be out of town for two weeks, leaving Monday, April 18th, and returning Monday, May 2nd. Lord willing, we will drive from Norman to Montana, then to Seattle, and then back to Norman during this time (over 4000 miles!). Please pray that God will protect us on the road, and that we will have an encouraging and restful time visiting family and friends. If you have any pastoral concerns while I am away, please contact one of the elders: Bill Doerfel (364-0830) or David Guild (605-2440). Filling the pulpit at Grace will be Rev. Michael Shipma (5/1) and Rev. Doug Serven (4/24).

New Member’s Class:

-         A new member’s class meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 at the Johnsons’ house. While the class is designed to prepare those interested for membership at Grace, anyone is welcome to join the study (member or not). We are working our way through “Confessing Christ” by Calvin Cummings. We are covering basic Bible teaching as well as looking at the particular distinctives we hold as a Presbyterian and Reformed church. Please let me know if you are interested in attending. NOTE: The new member’s class will not meet on April 19th or April 26th. The next class date is May 3rd.

Stamps for Missions:

-         The Foreign Missions Committee is accepting cancelled stamps in order to raise funds for the purchase of Bibles and Reformed literature for the people of Haiti. Instructions on what stamps to save, how to prepare them, and where to send them, are available on the table in the narthex of the church.

Eric Pyle’s work with Wycliffe Bible Translators:

-         Read Eric’s latest newsletter (“Eric’s Heart Language – Explorer”) for an update on his work in developing software for Bible translation: http://www.opcNorman.org/Wycliffe/EricPyle/newsletters/heart_lang_exp_mar05.pdf

Young People’s Camp:

-         The 2005 Presbytery of the Southwest (PSW) Young People’s Camp will be held July 23rd – July 29th in Amarillo, Texas. The camp’s theme is “Covenant Scene Investigation”, and is for students going into the 6th – 12th grades. Last year we had several people from Grace attend, both as campers and counselors. I hope that we can send another good-sized contingent this year, as well. There is information and registration forms available at the church. NOTE: If you are planning to attend, register AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. There must be 60 registered campers by May 16th for the camp to take place. Also note: Scholarships are available for those who may need financial assistance to pay for the tuition. Please contact me for more information about this.

-         If you would like more information on this camp, contact me or Betty Brack at betbrack@amaonline.com, or 806-433-5415.

Opportunities for service:

-         Grace Presbyterian will again be involved with the annual Oklahoma City Conference on Reformed Theology. The conference dates are Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st, and the speaker is Dr. Michael Horton of Westminster Seminary in California. You may have heard his radio program, “The White Horse Inn”, or be familiar with the magazine he edits, “Modern Reformation” (Dr. Horton also happens to be Faithann Basore’s uncle). Volunteers are needed to help with registration, ushering, and other types of service. Please call me if you would like to help in any way with the planning and running of the conference. For more information on the conference, go to: www.reformokc.com.
