Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty!

(Psalm 144:15)

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Here are some ways that you can extend help to the victims of Hurricane Katrina:

Phil Hodson, a licentiate of our presbytery who is serving as pastor of the OP church in Longview, Texas (Christ the King OPC), has been actively looking for places to house families uprooted from their homes by the hurricane and flooding. Although we are quite a ways north of the Gulf coast region, it is possible that some people could use a place to stay here until they are able to return home. Phil is receiving donations, as well. If you would be interested to find out more, please call Phil Hodson at 903-663-0072 (home) or 903-238-6830 (cell). His e-mail address is: Phil@BiblicalTheology.org.

The Orthodox Presbyterian Church has set up a special fund to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. Here is the information on that (and on another way to help):

1.  The Orthodox Presbyterian Church denominational Committee on Diaconal Ministries is accepting contributions for hurricane relief.  Contributions may be forwarded as follows:

                        Committee on Diaconal Ministries

                        c/o Rev. Leonard J. Coppes, Secretary-Treasurer

                        9161 Vine Street

                        Thornton, CO 80229

Please be sure to mark all such contributions as “Hurricane Relief.”  The committee will seek to use these funds to meet the needs of our OPC brothers and sisters, as well as other members of Reformed congregations in the areas affected, as we are able.

2.  If you would like to volunteer to assist the churches in the effected areas, you can do so through the PCA Disaster Response Coordinator.  Please visit their website at http://www.pca-mna.org and enroll as a volunteer with their Disaster Response team.

Whether or not you can offer help in these ways, I do encourage you to pray for the relief efforts of Phil Hodson and other Christian brothers and sisters. May the Lord use these expressions of compassion in the name of Christ to manifest the love of Jesus to many who are suffering as a result of this hurricane.

In Christ,

Pastor Scott
