The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

(Psalm 18:2)

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Greetings in the name of Christ, who is our rock and fortress and deliverer! As for the many brothers and sisters in the faith who have lost everything in the hurricane and flooding, I am sure they are discovering the depths of the comfort and strength the Lord provides to his children in their hour of need. Even some from our own denomination have reported losing all their property and belongings as a result of Katrina. For an update on how the hurricane has affected OPC churches, and how you can further OPC efforts in ministering to those in need, go to: http://opc.org/katrina.html.

Please note the following information:

Saturday, September 10th:

-                           The Men’s prayer breakfast will meet at the church building at 8:00 a.m.

This coming Lord’s Day, September 11th:

-         The adult Sunday School class will continue its study of the “The Christian Life” by Sinclair Ferguson. Our topic this week is union with Christ.

-         The morning sermon will be on faithfulness as a fruit of the Spirit. We will observe the Lord’s Supper at the morning service, as well as receive our monthly diaconal offering.

-         At the evening service, we will watch and discuss an R.C. Sproul teaching video.

Presbytery meeting in Norman, Sept. 15th – 17th:

-         Grace is hosting next week’s presbytery meeting, to be held here in Norman from Thursday, Sept. 15th to Saturday, Sept. 17th. The meetings will take place at the Super 8 Motel in Norman (on Main St., just east of I-35) on Thursday and Friday and at the church building on Saturday (if presbytery extends until then).

-         Let me know if you can help with picking up and dropping off people at the airport on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Also, we need several power cords and power strips with surge protectors for the presbyter’s laptop computers. If you have any that we could use for the meeting, please let me know (321-6151).

-         If you are able to provide snacks for the presbytery meeting, please contact Robyn Johnson at 321-6151.

-         There will be a presbytery/church fellowship meal at 6:00 p.m. at the hotel. All members and friends of the church are invited to come and meet the pastors, elders, and families who have come to Norman for the meeting.

OKC Conference on Reformed Theology, Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st:

-         Grace Presbyterian will again be involved with the annual Oklahoma City Conference on Reformed Theology. The conference dates are Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st, and the speaker is Dr. Michael Horton of Westminster Seminary in California. You may have heard his radio program, “The White Horse Inn”, or be familiar with the magazine he edits, “Modern Reformation” (Dr. Horton also happens to be Faithann Basore’s uncle). Volunteers are needed to help with registration, ushering, and other types of service. Please call me if you would like to help in any way with the planning and running of the conference. For more information on the conference, go to: www.reformokc.com.
