E-mail bulletin

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!

(Psalm 150:6)

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Greetings in the name of the One to whom all praise is due – our Savior Jesus Christ! I trust you are finding his grace sufficient this day to meet the challenges and struggles you face as you seek to walk faithfully with our Lord.

Please note the following information:

Saturday, October 8th:

-                           The Men’s prayer breakfast will meet at the church building at 8:00 a.m.

-                           The Women’s Bible study will meet at our house this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Contact Marilyn Doerfel (364-0830) or Robyn Johnson (321-6151) for more information.

This coming Lord’s Day, October 9th:

-         The adult Sunday School class will continue its study of the “The Christian Life” by Sinclair Ferguson. Our topic this week is “The Christian’s Conflicts.”

-         The morning sermon will be on Genesis 1:3-25. We will observe the Lord’s Supper at the morning service, as well as receive our monthly diaconal offering.

-         At the evening service, we will watch and discuss an R.C. Sproul teaching video on the book of Ecclesiastes.

Outreach:

-         Please pray for a new men’s Bible study that is starting soon. The Men’s Breakfast Bible Study will meet each Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at the Denny’s near the Main St./I-35 intersection in Norman. The first meeting will be October 19th. We will study the book of Romans, taking one passage at a time and discussing its theology and application to our faith and life. All men are invited. If you would like to participate, or if you know of someone who would interested in joining us, please let me know.

-         I am currently preparing a direct mail piece to send to area residents (many of whom are new to Norman). This will include a brief letter introducing Grace Presbyterian Church and a full-color information brochure about the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. If you are able to help with stuffing and labeling the envelopes, I would greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if you can serve in this way.

-         There are 550 door hangers ready to distribute in a Norman neighborhood. These door hangers contain a brief message from the Pastor, our tri-fold flyer with information about the church, and one of our bookmarks. If you would like to get some exercise and help with distributing these door hangers, let me know.

Hurricane Relief:

-         The OPC has been actively working to help those who have suffered from the damage done by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This includes sending teams of volunteers to the Gulf region to help with clean-up and to help rebuild damaged property. To read more, and see some pictures of the affected areas, go to www.opc.org and click on “Hurricane Katrina Report and Volunteer Information.”

Opportunities for service:

-         Volunteers are needed to clean the church building for October and November. Please contact me if you would like to serve in this way, or sign the sign-up sheet at the church.

Eric Pyle’s work with Wycliffe Bible Translators:

-         Read Eric’s latest e-mail update concerning his work as a software developer for Wycliffe:
