Dear Members and Friends of Grace,
Hello to you all in the name of our Good
Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you are finding rest and joy in Christ
this week as you abide in him. And, I trust you are finding his grace
sufficient to meet the challenges of each day.
Note the following information:
Last
Lord’s Day (9/12)
-
At the
special congregational meeting that was held last Sunday, the congregation
voted unanimously to approve the following recommendation brought before it by
the session:
“That
the congregation of Grace OPC request the Presbytery of the Southwest to appoint
Mr. William Doerfel as an augmentee to the session at Grace
indefinitely.”
The
action was taken to provide for Bill’s ongoing service as an elder at
Grace. Since his membership is with the presbytery, and not with any local
church, the presbytery needs to approve his service with the session of a local
church. We anticipate that presbytery will approve this request and look
forward to Bill’s continuing labors for the sake of the church.

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,
I
praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
Rejoice with the Milligans in the birth of
their baby boy this past Saturday! Brennan Tucker Milligan weighed 8 lbs., 3
oz., and both mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations Pete and Denean!
To look into the face of a newborn baby is
to be reminded of the wonder and preciousness of human life, and of the
greatness of our God who creates that life and sustains it. Lest we should ever
doubt the importance and dignity of even the littlest one in our midst, let us
remember that God himself became a baby in the person of Jesus. May we welcome
our little ones into the family of God, knowing that God grants them a place
with us in his Kingdom (Mark 10:14).
Note the following information:
This coming Lord’s Day (9/5):
-
Bill
Doerfel will teach from chapter 4 of the book of Hebrews for the adult Sunday
School.
-
Mark
10:46-52 will be the text for the morning sermon. The sermon is called

-
This
Lord’s Day, we will resume our regular evening worship service. I will
pick up our study of the book of 1 Samuel by preaching from 1 Samuel 23,
“God is My Helper.”
-

Net Banquet 2004, “Beauty for Ashes”, will be held on September 16
