E-mail bulletin

October 18, 2005

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night…

(Psalm 92:1, 2)

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Greetings in Christ’s name! Please note the following information:

Wednesday, October 19th:

-                           The first meeting of the Men’s Breakfast Bible Study will take place this morning from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at Denny’s in Norman (just northeast of the Main St./I-35 intersection). We will begin a study of Romans, discussing its theology and application to our faith and life. All men are invited. If you would like to participate, or if you know of someone who would interested in joining us, please let me know.

-                           The Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting will meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Johnsons’ house. Please contact me with any matters for thanksgiving or prayer.

-                           After the prayer meeting, there will be an Envelope Stuffing Party at the Johnsons’. We are preparing to send out about 750 letters to area residents introducing them to Grace Presbyterian Church and the OPC, and inviting them to visit our services. If you are able, plan to stay after the prayer meeting and help prepare these mailing pieces with us. There will be ice-cream for all the helpers. And, as we work, we will be cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals as they play the Houston Astros in game 6 of the NL playoffs.

Saturday, October 22nd:

-                           The session will meet at the church building at 9:00 a.m. If you have any matters to bring before the session, please let me know.

This coming Lord’s Day, October 23rd:

-         The adult Sunday School class will continue its study of the “The Christian Life” by Sinclair Ferguson. Our topic this week is “Crucifying Sin”.

-         The morning sermon will be on Genesis 2:1-3.

-         At the evening service, we will watch and discuss an R.C. Sproul teaching video on the book of Ecclesiastes.

Sunday, October 30th:

-         As the Johnson family will be on vacation from October 24th – 30th, Rev. Bill Doerfel will preach this Sunday at the morning service.

-         Instead of our usual evening service at Grace, we will meet with several area churches for a joint hymn sing. The hymn sing will take place at Northwest Bible Church in Oklahoma City. Contact me for more information.

Friday, November 11th:

-         There will be a special ordination and installation service for the new pastor of Knox OPC, Mr. Adam Ostella. The service will be at 3120 NW 48th St. in Oklahoma City, and will begin shortly after 6:00 p.m. I hope that many from Grace will be there to encourage our brothers and sisters at Knox, and to help welcome the Ostella family to Oklahoma.

Outreach:

-         There are 550 door hangers ready to distribute in a Norman neighborhood. These door hangers contain a brief message from the Pastor, our tri-fold flyer with information about the church, and one of our bookmarks. If you would like to get some exercise and help with distributing these door hangers, let me know.

Hurricane Relief:

-         The OPC has been actively working to help those who have suffered from the damage done by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This includes sending teams of volunteers to the Gulf region to help with clean-up and to help rebuild damaged property.
